    Chat poll

Post by Guest on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:09 pm

Should the chit chat be done on the chat box or the chat board, both or don't you care for the chat

Personally I find it confusing when too many people are on and I see some logging off if they can't get involved in the conversations, small cliques start to form and conversations cross each other, if can be funny at times but it can also be annoying and create trouble. :sulk:

Being very slow at typing and being dyslexic does not help either when answering as by the time I get my point everyone has went off

For admin it is very hard to police the only option we have is to delete all conversations and clear the boards :it's :

I enjoy the chat box personally, any confusion is easily remedied by typing the name of the person you are chatting too

I could get you even more confused than you really are but that would be unfair

I deleted the first one as I added the option of both, you must have voted between times

    I'm sorry

I voted for both, I think the chat box is great thats why I use it regular and a chat board is also fun for a bit of delayed banter. Just wondering if there is something in the pipeline that will take some of this away from us? I personally hope not.

Nothing in the pipeline Superstar, but we have a lot of members wanting access to the chat box but very few use it then we get complaints about things that are said on it. As I stated in an email to all members it is very hard to police unlike the boards which are easier as the posts remain.
At least by asking members to vote and voice their opinion we can get an idea why

The same issue arises at any level, be it club, Federation or National level. Things that are said within a meeting are recorded and can be used as evidence in any dispute. Likewise chat/banter that is said in the bar after a meeting is not recorded and would not hold water in any dispute. Posts made on the board are there for all to see and are only removed if and when deemed necessary. Posts made on the chat box are only their for a short period and then not available for further reference. I suggest an auto clear system be implemented where once a given number of posts are made on the chat box (say 100)it is wiped clean, and a post to that effect be placed for all to see on entry to the chat box.

That is what happens Bob, messages are automatically cleared once the space has been used up, it is not recorded or kept on the site it may however be recorded by the host server.
Members can copy and paste the box but their are some that are picking at the bones, by their own admission taking screen shots to to make a meal out what is said in chat box
Bob even though the meeting is finished if a statement is made outside that meeting you can still be held accountable, especially if you are an official you will be brought to task nothing surer.
Personally I think if you don't want people to hear or see what you say then keep it to yourself or in private conversations and not on ant part of the forum
