firs of all welcome to the site rackclose and thank you for reporting the pigeon on the site to help us a bit more on the ring there should be a letter after the GB 10 we cant help till we have this are you a pigeon fancier yourself ? i gather you have managed to catch the pigeon if you still have it would be best to keep it in a big box with plenty of hole for air and if you have any wild bird seed of a little dry rice and plenty of fresh water as soon as you can get the letter from the ring the sooner we have it the sooner we can help thank you once again for reporting the bird on here

    thanks Rene

    full number is GD 10 N 24282

we have caught him and big boxed with plenty of water etc as you advise. Will let him out tommorow and see if he flies off, othewise will re-box and wait for owners contact on auctions@andrewsmithandson.com 01962 735988

we are located in the counrtyside, so no-one around at night and very quiet, so hope he recovers the strenghth to fly on - although he seems a bit reluctant to leave the ground aftre 2 days.

Hi gary thank you for taking care of the pigeon here is a link that you will need to report the pigeon to as it is a national flying club pigeon when you go onto the link there is a box on the right hand side that say report a stray just follow the way it says please be sure to say you are a non fancier then they will be a bit quicker in helping you find the owner http://www.rpra.org/Home/tabid/38/Default.aspx please let us know how you get on

    Hi rene

thanks again - have logged him as found and will let you know the outcome.

no, not a fancier in particular but enjoy all things nature/animal welfare, recall my dads mate Brian Staddon had a good 'stable'! of birds as a kid so was exposed at an early age to the sport.

    all the best

    hi all

sorry to report the bird died before the owner made contact. we suspect he clipped a power cable which would explain his unmarked but dopey condition.

really like to thank rene for his advice and in pointing us in the right direction allowing us to trace the owner, the bird was a yearling so maybe first long flight out - shame.

    regards

    gary

maybe your short experience with pigeons might set you off on the path to become a future pigeon fancier....... well done for the help you gave this bird.
